Springfield-style cashew chicken is one of my favorite things to eat, but Chinese restaurants outside of southwest Missouri don’t make it right. However, we found a cashew chicken that comes in at close second.
Jade Cafe in West Harrison, Ind., isn’t a hotspot on any Cincinnati restaurant list, but it’s somewhere you’ve got to check out. Voted “Best Kept Secret” by Cincinnati Magazine a few years back, Jade Cafe is quiet and cute. It’s not your typical Chinese restaurant with a counter and food served on styrofoam plates. The service is excellent — and they have takeout, which is a big plus in my book.
Jade Cafe’s cashew chicken was excellent, as was the twice-cooked pork my husband ordered. He also had a lychee martini, which isn’t something you’ll find on most menus.
If you’re in Bright, Ind., and in the mood for good Chinese, go to Jade Cafe. You won’t be disappointed.
