Columbia probably got less than an inch of snow this weekend, but to most people around here (especially those that grew up in Missouri), that’s a lot. But to me, someone who grew up in Minnesota and Iowa, it’s not. The Twin Cities got about 17 inches of snow on Halloween in 1991, and in the last few weeks, the Cities have gotten that much snow, causing the roof of the Metrodome to cave in.
To get in the Christmas spirit, I went to Two Mile Prairie’s holiday fest Thursday night and Derby Ridge’s book fair Friday night. At the Derby Ridge event, I got to listen to my favorite Christmas story, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. I felt like a little kid again. Also, little kids are extremely picky about their hot chocolate.
Tomorrow, I’m interviewing a man who makes handcrafted wooden Santas out of his home. It should be a cute feature story.
Sometimes I forget how much I love Christmas.
